May 2018: Wooden Caravan Replica
Following the foam board replica of the caravan, it deemed necessary to at least re-make some of it out of wood to ensure a sturdier body for the projection/museum. I decided to make the bulk of it (main body) out of plywood and keep the wheels and roof as foam board, since they are more complicated.
The following video shows the development of this, all made in the workshop at London Met. I came up with the idea of dowels with castors to support the weight of the caravan, and hinges to enable the panels to come out and become the theatre. Foam board was used to make the 'boxes' for the projection (screens) and I was inspired to keep most of it as bare wood, while painting the interior and outer windows/door/. The result is pleasing to the eye and the projections works very well.
