VIDEO REVIEW - Wayfarers All (Series 1, Episode 9)
The 32nd of my video reviews dedicated to the making of Cosgrove Hall's film and series of 'The Wind in the Willows', featuring 'picture in picture' and the odd 'behind the scenes' image too! This one is for Episode 9 from Series 1, 'Wayfarers All' (originally transmitted 23rd November 1984). I consider this a true classic, derived straight from the book, and a highlight of some of the series' darker episodes. We are almost officially at the end of summer 2019, so with the Harvest underway now this feels very apt. This was originally released on a 'Children's Favourites' VHS compilation in 1988. As a special treat, an early draft of the script to this episode can be read on-screen as you watch, so look out for any differences (it's vastly extended in places), along with some initial plans, and an unused song, by Rosemary Anne Sisson at the end.
Reviews of the series continues as we round up summer, on Sunday 25th August 2019, with 'The Labyrinth' (Episode 7 from Series 2).
All 52 episodes have been sorted into a special 'seasonal' order. The remaining 13 'bonus' episodes (Series 5/the 'Oh! Mr Toad!' spin-off episodes) are being reviewed, one by one, as 'additions' every 4 weeks. Comments very welcome. :)
