The 39th of my video reviews dedicated to the making of Cosgrove Hall's film and series of 'The Wind in the Willows', featuring 'picture in picture' and the odd 'behind the scenes' image too, including archival photos of existing costumes and props and original drawings! This one is for Episode 9 from Series 3, 'Fire at Toad Hall' (originally transmitted in the UK on 26th February 1987). It was released on the 'Further Adventures of Toad' video in 1989, and later on the Time-Life DVD, 'Typical Toad', in 2003, before appearing on the 'Complete Collection' DVD box set in 2008.
Autumn 2019 has most definitely arrived (the weather says it all), and so in this one the harvest has been gathered in - but Toad and his friends face a fire at Toad Hall! The entire script can be read on-screen as you watch, so look out for any differences. Included, at the end of the video, are some scripted inserts that were never used.
My apologies for the lateness with this review - this was due to technical problems which have now been resolved!
Reviews of the series continues as we head deeply into the autumn, on Sunday 6th October 2019, with 'A Producer's Lot' (Episode 11 from Series 3).
All 52 episodes have been sorted into a special 'seasonal' order. The remaining 13 'bonus' episodes (Series 5/the 'Oh! Mr Toad!' spin-off episodes) are being reviewed, one by one, as 'additions' every 4 weeks. Comments very welcome. :)
