The 44th of my video reviews dedicated to the making of Cosgrove Hall's film and series of 'The Wind in the Willows', featuring 'picture in picture' and the odd 'behind the scenes' image too, including archival photos of existing costumes and props and original drawings! This one is for Episode 10 from Series 4, 'Monster of the Wild Wood' (originally transmitted in the UK on 2nd March 1988). It is in my opinion a classic, having been released multiple times on the 'Autumn Antics' video.
Apologies for the slight lateness with this one and the mix-up with episodes; I originally planned to review 'The Kidnapping of Toad' this week, but what with Halloween approaching it seemed more apt to postpone that one (it's just the way the weekends worked out this year) and review this one instead. Reviews of the series will now continue as we approach Bonfire Night, on Sunday 3rd November 2019, with 'Remember, Remember' (Episode 11 from Series 4). 'The Kidnapping of Toad' will now be postponed until Sunday 10th November 2019.
Don't forget the related events coming up at the Waterside in Sale, Manchester, all of which I'll be attending (and I'll be doing a talk on my 'Wind in the Willows' collection at the 'Materials in Motion' event). Details are as follows:
'Materials in Motion' Animation Symposium (Friday 1st November 2019):
'Puppet Masters' Animation Conference (Saturday 2nd November 2019):
'Cosgrove Hall: Frame by Frame' Exhibition (Friday 15th November 2019 - Saturday 4th January 2020):
All 52 episodes have been sorted into a special 'seasonal' order. The remaining 13 'bonus' episodes (Series 5/the 'Oh! Mr Toad!' spin-off episodes) are being reviewed, one by one, as 'additions' every 4 weeks. Comments very welcome. :)
